Epic Events is proud to have partnerships with the following sponsors in the motorcycle industry.
Suzuki is the brand of bikes we use for fun and work and have done so since 2000, the beginning of Epic Events. We use the strong and powerful DRZ 400 to find trails, mark trails and speed check trails! The real workhorse of the bikes is the King Quad 700. This ATV redefines what an ATV can do by being both very powerful and very comfortable to ride. We spend days and days in the saddle (seat) and we really appreciate the suspension, size and comfort of this machine.
Dirt Rider Downunder magazine is our newest sponsor having come on board in 2007. DRD (as the mag is known) is the best off road bike mag in NZ and is packed full of news, events, products and feature stories, all in A4 glossy colour. DRD always has stories on Epic trail rides and the best way to enjoy the magazine is to subscribe and get it delivered to your door!
CAMELBAK are the hydration paks we use. I have been using camelbaks since 1992 and found them to be simple, funtional and extremely hard wearing. I still own the first pak I had in 1992!! My favourite model by far is the BLOWFISH (shown in black below). This is like having 2 bags in one because it is expandable just by opening up a simple zip. It can be used for racing or recreation and can easily hold, food, drink and a large rain jacket. There are heaps of other camelbak models you can check out just by visiting www.camelbak.co.nz
We have been associated with Acerbis, HJC, SIDI, Spectro,EZ Up and DID since 1992. Firstly for racing and now with the trail ride business. More recently we have used Vee Rubber tyres. All of these products are high quality that last the distance and are well suited for use on the trail. If you have not tried the Vee Rubber VRM300, then you need to get a set off your local motorcycle dealer today. You can not get a better performing tyre for the money!
Often at rides you are exposed to the rain or maybe hot sun. Having a decent shelter can make the day so much more comfortable for you and your friends or family. EZ up shelters are the original quick shelter and are strong, really quick ot put up and affordable. For example, the Dome 2 is priced at justjust $199. Click on this link to check them out. From time to time, there may be special epic event deals. www.ezup.co.nz
FEW COULD STICK WITH AUCKLAND'S BIRCH

FEBRUARY 3, 2010: Rocks, sand, hard-packed soil, tree roots, cliff faces, river crossings, rain, mud … it matters not one bit to Auckland's Chris Birch.
The Kiwi international will find traction everywhere and Birch and his new Continental GS off-road tyres found all the grip and drive he needed, and then some, on his way to bagging two major wins at the weekend.
The KTM ace got his 2010 national enduro championships campaign off to a brilliant start at Oparau, near Kawhia, on Saturday, finishing the day on the top step of the podium at this first round of five in this year’s series.
Birch looked “comfortable, very fast … almost unbelievable”, according to Motorcycling New Zealand enduro commissioner Gary Powell.
“It was a physically tough event,” said Powell. “It was steep and uncompromising terrain but there were really no surprises in the outcome, with the established stars all looking good. But Chris Birch has again shown he’s the man to beat.”
Overall runner-up was Whangamata’s Jason Davis (KTM), with Auckland’s Karl Power (Honda) third.
The following day, Birch was in action again, this time winning the inaugural Kiwi Rider-sponsored No Way In Hell at the same Kawhia venue.
He was one of only five riders to actually survive to see the finish.
Even as rain started to fall at the sign-on and pit area, 64 riders signed up for the event … and little did they know just how tough their day was going to be.
Birch blitzed the field with a winning time of three hours 12 minutes and 25 seconds, a staggering two hours and 29 minutes ahead of runner-up rider, Hokianga's Mitchell Neild.
"The tyres had fantastic grip, excellent feel and were very hard wearing. There was lots of interest from the other riders in the tyres I was using," Birch said.

"They have done me so well since I have been in New Zealand - the last 5 years! It seems that no matter what the conditions are the Vee Rubbers always prove to be great all rounder's. From the Tawarewa 100 to the New Zealand Motox Nationals, Vee Rubber VRM300 is my only choice for grip and the fine control I need to place my bike where I want to be." - Barry Morris, No4 National Pro Class 250cc (2006)
